Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to study effectiveness in narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province 2) to compare opinion of police officers toward the effectiveness in narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province by classifying on the personal factors, and 3) to study problems, barriers, and ways for the narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province.

This research applied Survey Research. The sample of the study was 169 police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province The instrument of the study was the questionnaires with 0.930 of reliability. The analysis of data used Statistical Package for Social Science. The statistics used Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard deviation, t-test, and   F-test by One Way ANOVA and Least Significant Difference: LSD.

The results of the study found that

1. Overall, the police officers had the opinion toward the effectiveness in narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province was in high level. When considering each aspect: prevention and suppression, it was found that these were in high level.

2. For the comparison of the police officers’ opinion toward the effectiveness in narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province by classifying on the personal factors: sex, age, educational degrees, ranking and working years, it was found that the police officers had no different opinion toward the the effectiveness in narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province. The hypothesis is denied.

3. The problems and barriers were the organization had the insufficient budget, welfare, modern equipment and tools, and reserves and should be developed to increase the effectiveness in knowledge, skills, proficiency, and new technology. The private and people problems participated in the activities about preventing and improving the narcotics problem in low to middle level. Moreover, the problem in using the area in Muang Nakhonsawan District facilitated to the narcotics store, expansion, and transportation into the other areas in Thailand. The ways for the narcotics suppression of police officers at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station, Nakhonsawan Province were that the government and the upper supervisors should provide the budget, welfare, modern equipment and tools, and reserves sufficiently. For the private and people problems participated in the activities about preventing and improving the narcotics problem, the chief should meet and visit the people in the area to know the problems, the information and the news and make the good relationship with the people. Moreover, the organization should promote the danger of the narcotics to the people in order to know and realize the danger of the narcotics and have the consciousness of the participation and resisting the narcotics. For the problem in using the area to be the narcotics store, expansion, and transportation into the other areas in Thailand must depend on the integration of the news and the technology in exploration, communication, investigation, and interception to upgrade the suppression effectively.
